Hi, I’m Jade!

The formal bio:
Jade Driscoll (she/her) is a Michigan-based poet. Her debut chapbook, Awaken, was published by And Then Publishing in 2023, and her work has previously appeared in Ponder Review, Remington Review, Plainsongs, Atlas and Alice, and more. She received Honorable Mention for non-rhyming poetry in Writer’s Digest 89th Annual Writing Competition, and she has been nominated for a 2023 Pushcart Prize, the 2022 Best of the Net awards, and the 2021 AWP Intro Journals Project. When she’s not writing, Jade enjoys reading, listening to music, learning Korean, and walking in local parks. You can find her online @thepoetjade.

The fun (and longer) bio:
Jade Driscoll (she/her) loves books. Like, a lot. She’s rated over 600 books on Goodreads, and she’s posted nearly 100 book reviews to Instagram (click on the fun links to the left!). Since she thrives on chaos, she’s always reading at least two books at once. Jade has published poems in more than 15 different literary journals–many of which you can read at the “Publications” tab! Thanks to some friends who hold her accountable and give out poetry prompts, she’s been drafting at least one poem a day for over three consecutive months. She’s also ~45,000 words into her first novel, which is YA realistic fiction.
Jade also loves K-pop–potentially even more than reading, if that’s possible. She started listening to groups like NU’EST, TEEN TOP, Girls’ Generation, and BIGBANG in 2012, but ~ten years later, her life currently revolves around Stray Kids. As in, her whole apartment is covered in Stray Kids posters, “MANIAC” became her most-played Spotify song of all time less than 2 months after it released (thank you, Stats for Spotify), and she willingly goes to her day job tired so she can stay up late for teaser images, merch drops, or simply the ability to re-watch one of their music show performances for the millionth time. One of the poems in her debut chapbook is even dedicated to the members of Stray Kids! She also loves Dreamcatcher, ATEEZ, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ITZY, XDINARY HEROES, DAY6, ENHYPEN, (G)I-DLE, NMIXX, TWICE, LE SSERAFIM, and many, many, many more.
Some rapid-fire fun facts about Jade:
– She has recently become obsessed with veggie “chicken” nuggets.
– Her two brothers mean the world to her.
– She’s a Detroit Tigers fan.
– She’s willing to at least try most books/genres, even if they don’t seem like her personal preference.
– She went to Warped Tour for seven consecutive years when that was a thing.
